business new europe (bne) was set up in 2006 by a group of journalists who have been covering emerging Europe for more than a decade. It remains the only English-language publication that covers all 30 of the countries of "new Europe" -- Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe, as well as the former Soviet Union.

Ben is the editor/publisher of bne and an Eastern Europe specialist. Amongst the longest serving foreign correspondent in Eastern Europe, Ben has been covering Russia since 1993, with stints in the Baltic's and Central Asia. He is a former Moscow bureau chief for the Daily Telegraph, was a contributing editor at The Banker and Euromoney for a decade as well as Russia correspondent for The Business. He is also a regular contributor to many of the best-known international business titles such as The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Institutional Investor and many others. In 2003, Ben moved to Berlin as acting bureau chief for the Guardian before founding bne in 2006 to cover all of CEE. He returned to live in Moscow full time in the summer of 2009.

An award-wining journalist and published author, Nick has a long career as a reporter in all the major regions of the globe and contributed to many publications such as The Financial Times, The Globe & Mail and The Moscow Times. He has been Central and Eastern European correspondent for The Deal, correspondent/editor for International Herald Tribune TV, senior European editor for TheStreet.com, and senior editor and correspondent for Bridge News in New York and Tokyo. He was a correspondent in Japan for eight years and speaks Japanese. Nick is the co-author of "The Bond Bible," a book about the US bond markets (Prentice Hall, 1999).

Poland: Jan Cienski

Jan is the Warsaw bureau chief of the Financial Times . He has been in Warsaw since 2003, where he has covered Poland's entry into the European Union, with its complicated political and economic consequences. Prior to that he spent five years as the Washington correspondent for the National Post, a Canadian newspaper. He also spent several years in the United States working for The Associated Press . From 1992 to 1995 he worked in Moscow for the German News Agency DPA, and was also a freelancer in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He got his start as a reporter working in Warsaw for United Press International in 1989 and 1990. Jan was born in South Africa in 1965 and later lived in Canada, where he received a degree in international relations from the University of Toronto.
